Beauty Within the Chaos
By NoMojo
We spend so much time looking at the ground. We look for scrap, we look for tracks, we look for the tripwires that mean the end of a run. Down here in Speranza, the sky is just a ceiling of reinforced concrete. But up there? Up there, the world is still trying to be magnificent.
Yesterday, while tucked into the skeleton of an old library in the Buried City, waiting for an ARC patrol to pass, I saw it. The sun was dipping below the jagged edge of a collapsed skyscraper. For five minutes, the Rust Belt wasn't a graveyard of industry—it was a cathedral of gold and copper. Even the Snitch Drones looked like drifting fireflies in that light.
It's easy to become a savage when you think everything is ugly. But when you see a vine of ivy successfully reclaiming a rusted Trawler, or the way the dust settles over the silence of an abandoned park, you realize what we're actually fighting for. We aren't just fighting for survival; we're fighting for the right to stand in that light again without a rifle in our hands.
📽️ PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT: "Surface Echoes"
I am currently compiling high-definition footage from my last dozen excursions. I'm putting together a short film—no combat, no carnage, just the quiet moments of the Top Side. I want to show the people in the Hub what they're missing.
