Photoelectric Cloak: Field Test Report
"They can't kill what they can't calculate."
If you've spent any time following my reports, you know I don't like fair fights. Honestly, I don't like fights at all. My job is to see, record, and extract. That's why the Photoelectric Cloak is, bar none, the most important piece of gear in my kit. It has saved my hide more than a dozen times when a Wasp patrol got a little too curious about the bush I was hiding in.

The Specs
Technical Specifications
| Mechanism: | Active Light-Bending Diffraction |
| ARC Detection Floor: | -85% (While stationary) |
| Uptime: | 12 Seconds per charge cycle |
| Vulnerabilities: | High-velocity movement, physical collisions, water contact |
Field Performance
The beauty of this cloak isn't just that it hides you from the human eyeโit confuses the ARC's optical sensors. When it's active, you essentially become a "null value" in their targeting algorithms. I've had a Trawler walk within five feet of me while I was documenting its leg-joint mechanics. My heart was hitting 140 BPM, but the machine didn't even skip a beat.
However, users should be warned: this isn't magic. If you start sprinting, the "shimmer" becomes obvious to even the most basic Snitch Drone. It's a tool for the patient, for the observers, and for those who know how to hold their breath.
PROS
- Reduces ARC detection by 85% when stationary
- Confuses ARC optical sensors and targeting algorithms
- Essential for field observation and documentation
- Can save your life in close encounters
- 12-second active duration per charge
CONS
- Shimmer becomes visible during high-velocity movement
- Vulnerable to physical collisions
- Water contact disables the cloak
- Limited uptime (12 seconds per cycle)
- Extremely expensive in official shops
- Requires patience and stillness to be effective
๐ ๏ธ NoMojo's Scavenger Tip
These units are incredibly rare in the official Speranza shops, and when they do show up, the credit price is nothing short of criminal. But you don't need a factory-sealed kit to stay invisible.
If you can find some old high-fidelity speakers and a spool of copper wiring during a run topside, don't trade them for scraps. Head down to the workshop in Sector 4 and ask for "The Tinkerer." He's a bit eccentric, but he can use those components to rig up a functional photoelectric weave for a fraction of the cost. It might flicker a bit more than the retail version, but in a dark alley in the Buried City, a flicker is better than a funeral.
The Sentinel Verdict
10 / 10 โ A Life Saver. It's finicky, it's expensive, and it hates the rain. But the moment you hear a Leaper clicking just around the corner and you hit that 'Active' switch... you'll realize it's worth every scrap of copper you traded for it.
